Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has introduced a temporary visa relief measure to support foreign visitors affected by recent regional travel disruptions, allowing eligible travellers to regularise their stay without facing penalties.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Interior Saudi Arabia on March 25, outlining a time-bound initiative aimed at assisting visitors whose travel plans were impacted by ongoing disruptions.
Extension Valid Until April 18
Under the new directive, visit visa holders whose permits have expired while inside the Kingdom will be granted an extension until April 18, 2026. During this period, affected travellers can complete exit procedures without incurring overstay fines.
Authorities have clarified that no penalties will be imposed, provided all departure formalities are completed within the specified timeframe.
Who Is Eligible
The relief applies exclusively to foreign nationals currently in Saudi Arabia on visit visas that have expired. The extension is not dependent on the purpose of travel but is strictly limited to this visa category.
Eligible visitors are required to regularise their status within the extension window to avoid potential immigration complications in the future.
Process for Compliance
The Ministry has instructed travellers to complete all procedures through official government platforms. Authorities have strongly advised against delaying the process until the final days, encouraging visitors to act promptly to ensure a smooth exit.
Only actions completed through authorised channels will be considered valid under the relief measure.
Temporary Measure, Not Policy Change
Saudi officials have emphasised that this initiative is a short-term administrative measure and does not reflect any permanent changes to visa policies. The move is intended to ease the burden on travellers who were unable to depart on time due to unforeseen circumstances.
The government has also urged visitors to rely solely on official communications and adhere to all guidelines issued by authorities.
This development highlights Saudi Arabia’s responsive approach to managing travel disruptions while maintaining regulatory compliance and traveller welfare.
