Bengaluru: Authorities in Bengaluru have announced comprehensive traffic and parking arrangements ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled on March 28 and April 5 at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
With thousands of fans expected to attend the matches featuring Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), city police have urged spectators to plan their travel in advance and rely heavily on public transport to avoid congestion in and around the central business district.
Public Transport Push with Metro Integration
To ease traffic movement and enhance convenience, authorities have introduced a QR code-based e-ticketing system integrated with metro access. This initiative allows fans to seamlessly use Namma Metro along with BMTC bus services for efficient commuting.
Officials emphasized that using public transport will significantly reduce travel time and congestion on match days.
Strict Parking Restrictions in Key Areas
Parking will be prohibited across several major roads surrounding the stadium, including:
- Queens Road (Balekundri Circle to CTO Junction)
- M.G. Road (Anil Kumble Circle to Queens Circle)
- Cubbon Road, St. Mark’s Road, Museum Road
- Kasturba Road and Vittal Mallya Road
Additionally, parking inside Cubbon Park is strictly restricted at multiple locations, including King Road, Press Club, Bal Bhavan, and Fountain Road.
Designated Parking Zones for Spectators
Fans arriving by private vehicles are advised to use designated parking facilities at:
- St. Joseph’s Indian High School grounds
- St. Joseph’s European School grounds
- Freedom Park multi-level parking
- Garuda Mall
- Shivajinagar Bus Stand (first floor)
- UB City Mall
Stadium Entry & Exit Guidelines
Entry to the stadium will be facilitated through multiple gates on Cubbon Road, Queens Road, and Link Road, while specific gates have been designated exclusively for exit and VIP access to streamline crowd movement.
Dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones for app-based taxis and auto-rickshaws have also been arranged at B.R.V. Ground and Manekshaw Parade Ground.
Advisory for Fans
Police have strongly advised spectators to avoid private vehicles wherever possible and make maximum use of public transport services. The integrated metro system is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring smooth and hassle-free travel for cricket fans.
With careful planning and adherence to guidelines, authorities aim to deliver a seamless match-day experience while maintaining efficient traffic flow across the city.
