Hotels and restaurants across major Indian cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai have reported concerns over a shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, which are widely used for commercial cooking in the hospitality industry.
Industry representatives say the limited availability of LPG cylinders has created operational challenges for several hotels, restaurants, and catering establishments. Many businesses rely heavily on a steady supply of LPG to manage daily kitchen operations, and any disruption can affect food preparation and service delivery.
Hospitality associations have raised the issue with authorities, requesting immediate intervention to ensure uninterrupted supply. According to industry stakeholders, delays in cylinder deliveries and increased demand have contributed to the current situation in several urban centres.
In response, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has acknowledged the concerns and stated that steps are being taken to stabilize supply and address distribution challenges. Officials indicated that oil marketing companies are working to streamline logistics and ensure that commercial establishments receive adequate LPG supplies.
Authorities have also assured that the situation is being closely monitored and efforts are underway to prevent further disruptions to businesses in the hospitality sector.
