OTOAI Members’ Meet in Mumbai brings the travel trade community closer

OTOAI Hosts Members’ Meet in Mumbai, Strengthens Industry Bonding and Advocacy Focus

Mumbai – The Out Bound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) hosted its Members’ Meet Series in Mumbai on April 3, 2026, at Kyma, BKC, in association with MakeMyTrip’s myPartner platform.

The event brought together members of the OTOAI Managing Committee, the myPartner by MakeMyTrip team, and a strong turnout of Mumbai-based travel professionals. Designed as a relaxed, no-agenda gathering, the evening focused on meaningful conversations, networking, and strengthening relationships within the outbound travel community.

Building Stronger Industry Connections

The informal setting encouraged open dialogue and collaboration among members, highlighting the importance of community-driven engagement in the travel trade sector. Participants emphasized that such interactions often lead to stronger partnerships and long-term industry growth.

Focus on Advocacy and Industry Challenges

Himanshu Patil, President of OTOAI, addressed the gathering, outlining the association’s current priorities and challenges.

He highlighted the need to expand membership strength to better represent the outbound tourism sector at the government level. He also pointed out that outbound tourism is often viewed as a foreign exchange outflow, limiting its recognition as a contributor to the broader travel economy.

Patil noted that OTOAI has played a key role in advocacy efforts, including the reduction of Tax Collected at Source (TCS) on overseas tour packages to 2% in Budget 2026, which has improved competitiveness for outbound travel businesses.

Strengthening the Road Ahead

The Mumbai meet followed a similar successful engagement in Kolkata, reflecting OTOAI’s ongoing efforts to connect members across key markets in India.

The association aims to continue organising such initiatives to build a stronger, unified voice for outbound tour operators and to engage more effectively with policymakers on industry concerns.

Driving Community and Growth

The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the importance of collaboration, dialogue, and collective action in shaping the future of outbound tourism in India.
