Indian Airlines Expand Summer Schedule 2026 with Record Domestic Capacity

Bengaluru: India’s aviation sector is gearing up for one of its busiest summers yet, as airlines significantly expand their domestic schedules for the Summer 2026 season. With travel demand surging across leisure and business segments, carriers are deploying additional aircraft and increasing frequencies on high-demand routes.

According to industry sources, airlines have collectively planned thousands of weekly departures, connecting metro cities with emerging regional destinations. Routes such as Delhi–Goa, Mumbai–Bengaluru, and Hyderabad–Jaipur are witnessing increased capacity due to strong passenger demand.

Low-cost carriers continue to dominate the domestic market, focusing on affordability and operational efficiency. At the same time, full-service airlines are enhancing onboard experiences and introducing premium offerings to capture high-value travellers.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the summer schedule, ensuring optimal slot allocation and improved connectivity across airports. This expansion is expected to boost tourism, business travel, and regional economic growth.

However, challenges such as airport congestion, rising fuel prices, and infrastructure limitations remain key concerns for the industry.
