Bengaluru – A unique fusion of aviation and art was unveiled at Kempegowda International Airport, where Air India Express showcased ‘The Flying Canvas’—India’s first full-aircraft contemporary art wrap on a Boeing 737-8.
The aircraft, spotted on the tarmac, features a striking livery created in collaboration with the Kochi-Muziris Biennale and contemporary artist Osheen Siva. The project represents a creative intersection of culture, identity, and aviation.
Art Meets Aviation
The design showcases a bold female form symbolising generational memory and continuity, accompanied by motifs reflecting heritage, identity, and transformation. The artwork reinterprets traditional elements through a modern, fluid lens—bringing a fresh narrative to Indian cultural expression.
A Flying Cultural Experience
With this initiative, the aircraft becomes more than just a mode of transport—it transforms into a moving art installation, carrying India’s creative spirit across destinations.
Each flight of ‘The Flying Canvas’ serves as a visual storytelling platform, connecting passengers not only to places but also to the country’s evolving artistic identity.
Elevating Brand and Cultural Identity
This initiative highlights Air India Express’ commitment to celebrating Indian culture while innovating in branding and passenger experience. It also reflects a broader trend of airlines incorporating art and design into their identity to create deeper emotional connections with travellers.
Industry observers note that such collaborations between aviation and art can enhance destination branding and promote cultural tourism on a global stage.
