Bengaluru: India’s upcoming aviation hub, Noida International Airport, is set to commence commercial operations within the next 45 to 60 days, according to Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation.
The launch of operations is currently contingent on the approval of the Airport Security Programme (ASP) by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The ASP is a critical document outlining comprehensive security protocols, including access control, perimeter protection, screening procedures, and emergency response mechanisms.
Officials confirmed that without ASP clearance, Airport Entry Passes (AEP)—mandatory for all airport personnel and stakeholders—cannot be issued, delaying operational readiness.
Shailendra Bhatia, nodal officer of Noida International Airport Limited, also stated that the airport is on track to begin operations within the expected timeframe.
Phased Operational Rollout
In its initial phase, the airport will operate with a single runway, handling domestic passenger and cargo flights. International operations are expected to be introduced at a later stage as infrastructure and regulatory approvals expand.
The development of Noida International Airport is seen as a major step toward strengthening aviation infrastructure in northern India, easing congestion at Delhi’s existing airports, and boosting regional connectivity.
Strategic Importance for Aviation & Tourism
Once operational, the airport is expected to play a key role in supporting India’s growing air traffic demand, facilitating trade, and enhancing tourism access to the National Capital Region (NCR) and surrounding states.
Industry experts believe that the airport will significantly improve passenger experience, reduce travel time, and create new opportunities for airlines, logistics providers, and travel stakeholders.
As the countdown begins, all eyes are now on final regulatory approvals that will pave the way for one of India’s most anticipated airport launches.
