Bengaluru, India: India’s flagship carrier, Air India, is accelerating its global expansion strategy in 2026 with the launch of new long-haul international routes and an ongoing fleet modernisation programme aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency.
As part of its transformation journey under the Tata Group, Air India is introducing additional non-stop services connecting major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to key global destinations across Europe, North America, and Australia. The airline is focusing on strengthening direct connectivity, reducing travel time, and improving convenience for both business and leisure travellers.
The expansion is supported by a significant aircraft order, including new-generation wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, designed to offer improved fuel efficiency, enhanced cabin comfort, and advanced in-flight amenities. The airline is also upgrading interiors across its existing fleet, introducing modern seating, upgraded entertainment systems, and improved onboard services.
In addition to route expansion, Air India is enhancing its digital capabilities with a focus on seamless booking experiences, real-time customer support, and integrated loyalty programmes. These initiatives are aimed at aligning the airline with global standards and improving overall customer satisfaction.
Industry experts view this move as a strategic effort to reclaim Air India’s position as a leading global carrier, particularly as competition intensifies from Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian airlines.
With strong demand for international travel from India, Air India’s expansion is expected to play a key role in boosting outbound tourism and strengthening India’s global aviation footprint.
