Bengaluru, 13 April: Indian Railways has approved the introduction of the Mumbai–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper service, significantly reducing travel time between Pune and Bengaluru to approximately 13 hours. The new train will operate between Mumbai and Bengaluru, passing through key cities including Pune, Solapur, and Wadi. Major Time Reduction Currently, trains such as the Udyan Express and Coimbatore Express take between 18 to 19 hours on the Pune–Bengaluru route. The new Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to cut travel time by nearly five hours, offering a faster overnight journey. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the approval, stating that the service will enhance passenger convenience on this high-demand corridor. Operational Plan Service to run six days a week One day reserved for maintenance Departures scheduled around 9 PM from both ends Two train sets to be deployed Modern Features & Capacity The train will feature advanced amenities and safety systems, including: Indigenous Kavach collision prevention system 16 coaches configuration: 11 AC 3-tier coaches (611 berths) 4 AC 2-tier coaches (188 berths) 1 AC First Class coach (24 berths) Total passenger capacity will be 823 berths, catering to growing demand for comfortable long-distance travel.
