1 April, Bengaluru: Shares of InterGlobe Aviation, which operates India’s largest airline IndiGo, surged over 9% on Wednesday following the announcement of industry veteran William Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer. Walsh, currently Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is set to join IndiGo in early August 2026. A seasoned aviation leader, he previously served as CEO of British Airways and led International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s largest airline groups. Dominant Market Position Despite challenges, IndiGo continues to dominate India’s aviation market with approximately 65% market share, significantly ahead of competitors such as Air India, which holds around 27%.
