According to the report, the cruise sector generated $98.5 billion in global GDP and $199 billion in total economic output in 2024, supporting 1.8 million jobs and delivering $60.1 billion in wages, underscoring its growing importance in the global tourism economy.

The report reveals that cruise tourism is a major driver of local economic activity, with:

  • $93 billion in direct spending
  • Over 1.4 million onshore jobs supported
  • One full-time job created for every 20 cruise passengers globally

Data from Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) shows that over 60% of cruise passengers return to destinations they first experienced via cruise.
