31 March, Bengaluru: IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a management agreement with Eros Group (Nehru Place Hotels Pvt Ltd) to launch InterContinental Eros New Delhi Nehru Place, marking a significant expansion of its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in India.
Slated to open in 2029 following an extensive renovation, the hotel will operate under the globally renowned InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand, reinforcing IHG’s presence in key metropolitan markets.
Located in New Delhi’s prominent commercial hub of Nehru Place, the property is strategically positioned amidst corporate offices, embassies, and major cultural landmarks, making it an ideal destination for both business and leisure travellers.
Strengthening Luxury Hospitality in India
The signing reflects IHG’s continued focus on expanding its luxury footprint across India. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s largest luxury hotel brands, currently operates over 237 hotels globally, with more than 100 properties in the pipeline.
In India, the brand has been gaining strong momentum with recent signings in key destinations, including leisure markets such as Kasauli and Kodaikanal, alongside major urban centres.
Commenting on the development, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:
“We are delighted to partner once again with Eros Group to bring InterContinental back to the national capital. South Delhi’s dynamic mix of business and cultural attractions makes it an ideal location for a luxury hotel of this scale.”
He further highlighted Delhi’s strong hospitality fundamentals, including robust occupancy levels and average daily rates (ADR), positioning the city as a key growth market for IHG.
Premium Offerings and Facilities
The upcoming hotel will feature 216 elegantly designed rooms and suites, along with a range of premium amenities, including:
- Multiple dining venues, including restaurants, bar, and lobby lounge
- Expansive meeting and event spaces, including a grand ballroom
- Landscaped outdoor venues for social and corporate events
- Wellness and leisure facilities such as a luxury spa, health club, and swimming pool
The property is expected to cater to both high-end business travellers and leisure guests seeking world-class hospitality experiences in the capital.
Reviving a Landmark Property
Originally launched in 1996 and previously operated under the InterContinental brand for over a decade, the hotel later functioned independently as Eros Hotel New Delhi. With this new agreement, the property will rejoin the IHG system, marking a return of the InterContinental brand to this iconic location.
Satish Sood, Managing Director, Eros Group, stated:
“We are proud to strengthen our partnership with IHG and bring back the InterContinental brand to this landmark site. This collaboration aligns with our vision of developing premium hospitality assets in India’s most dynamic cities.”
Strategic Location Advantage
The hotel’s prime location offers excellent connectivity, being just minutes from Nehru Place Metro Station and within 30–35 minutes of Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is also close to major attractions such as the Lotus Temple and Kalkaji Mandir, enhancing its appeal to international and domestic travellers.
IHG’s Growth Ambition in India
IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, including Six Senses, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express. With a strong pipeline of 89 hotels under development, the company aims to significantly expand its footprint, targeting over 400 open and pipeline properties in the coming years.
This latest signing underscores IHG’s long-term commitment to India as a high-growth market and its strategy to deliver world-class luxury hospitality experiences.
