Bengaluru: A widespread wave of flight disruptions has impacted major aviation hubs across Asia and beyond, leaving thousands of passengers stranded as more than 3,100 delays and 74 cancellations were recorded across key airports in India, China, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, and Türkiye.
Major hubs including Indira Gandhi International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport were among the worst affected, highlighting the scale of disruption across key global travel corridors.
Delhi and Shenzhen Among Worst Hit
Delhi recorded the highest number of delays at 471, followed closely by Shenzhen with 447 delays, while Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen reported 405 delays. Mumbai experienced the highest number of cancellations at 10, alongside 274 delays.
Airports across China—including Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, and Chongqing—also reported significant disruption volumes, indicating a widespread operational strain across the region.
Airlines Face Operational Pressure
Among airlines, IndiGo recorded the highest delays at 293, followed by Pegasus Airlines with 262 delays and 7 cancellations, and Air China with 225 delays.
Air India also reported significant disruption with 200 delays, while Gulf Air recorded the highest number of cancellations at 12.
Other major carriers, including China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines, were also affected across multiple hubs.
Delay-Driven Disruption Across the Region
The disruption pattern was largely delay-driven rather than cancellation-heavy, with airports in Thailand—such as Bangkok and Phuket—and Singapore showing relatively stable operations with minimal cancellations.
However, repeated congestion points were observed in Delhi, Mumbai, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Istanbul, indicating pressure on high-traffic international corridors.

Travellers across affected regions have been advised to:
- Check flight status before heading to the airport
- Arrive early to accommodate delays
- Stay in contact with airlines for rebooking options
