Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Holds Stakeholder Meetings to Boost Global and Medical Tourism

Bengaluru: Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, chaired key consultation meetings with tourism stakeholders and industry representatives at Bharat Mandapam on March 18, 2026.

The sessions focused on strengthening India’s global tourism strategy and enhancing its position across key segments of the travel industry.

During the first session, discussions were centred on improving India’s presence at global travel trade events, with stakeholders highlighting the importance of international marketing, participation in global exhibitions, and strategic partnerships to attract more inbound tourists.

The second session focused on positioning India as a leading destination for medical and wellness tourism. Industry representatives emphasised the country’s strengths in healthcare infrastructure, skilled professionals, traditional wellness systems such as Ayurveda, and competitive treatment costs.

The meetings aimed to gather insights from industry leaders and align strategies to boost India’s tourism growth across international markets. The initiative reflects the government’s continued efforts to promote India as a diverse and globally competitive tourism destination.
